A26 PORT RAILWAY TUNNEL CLIMBS ANOTHER MILESTONE

The concreting of the first tunnel ceiling was successfully completed in mid-March 2025. This important progress not only ensures that the freight railway line will be relocated on schedule in June 2025, but also represents a decisive step in the further development of the entire project — of the utmost importance for our customer, DEGES GmbH!

Why is this milestone so important?

The port railway line, one of the most important transport routes for goods from the seaport of Hamburg to the inland, currently runs to the east of our tunnel construction site and will be swung onto the first three tunnel blocks we have completed during a four-day train closure in June 2025. The resulting construction freedom will give the go-ahead for our work on the eastern construction pit.

Thanks to the extraordinary commitment of our team on site, as well as our business partners, we, as a reliable partner, remain on track with the implementation of the ambitious construction schedule and, together with the client, are confidently looking forward to the milestones still to be achieved in the project.

After completion of the shell of the first three tunnel blocks in April 2025, a further 23 tunnel/trough segments still need to be built — 13 of these in the west excavation pit already constructed and 10 segments in the east excavation pit still to be constructed. In addition to the challenging portal structures, two fire water basins and an operations building will also be added.
