The new, ultra-modern elementary school on Gruscheweg in Neuenhagen has been in operation since September 2, 2024. The building was officially handed over to its new users on September 6.
“Few people thought it was possible, but we handed over our new elementary school to the children on time for the start of the school year after less than two years of construction,” says Mayor Ansgar Scharnke, delighted with the completed construction project, which is considered the largest investment in the history of the municipality.
The school sets new standards with its innovative design and state-of-the-art facilities. The campus comprises an elementary school with 18 classrooms, science, music and art rooms as well as spacious common areas. The first floor houses the school administration, a canteen for 180 people, a library and technical rooms. A single-storey after-school care center with 14 childcare rooms and creative play areas was also built. A three-field sports hall and a modern athletics facility complete the school grounds.
“We made the right choice with the decision to outsource planning and construction. This modern school will offer many young Neuenhageners optimal starting conditions for their school life,” continued Mayor Scharnke.
After the detailed speeches of thanks from those involved in the project, project manager Frank Ledderboge, together with Mayor Ansgar Scharnke and representatives of the school and after-school care center management, ceremoniously cut the opening ribbon in keeping with tradition. AUGUST REINERS wishes the future users good luck and enjoyment of the new Gruscheweg school campus.
