Client: Municipality of Forst/Lusatia
Project type: Refurbishment of cycling track in Forst
Material: Shotcrete C 35/ 45
Execution of overall measure: Construction company Gerd Müller GmbH
Execution of shotcrete steep bends: AUGUST REINERS Bauunternehmung GmbH
The Forst cycling track has existed since 1906 and has an open concrete track over 400 meters long. Stand-up races and GDR championships have been held on it ever since. In 1932, the film “Strich durch die Rechnung” with Heinz Rühmann was shot on the track.
The track was last renovated between 1992 and 1994 at a cost of DM 1.4 million. The track is currently being renovated or renewed again by the town of Forst as part of a federal program “Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture”, in which completely new, reinforced
concrete slabs are being laid on top of the existing concrete slabs. The two steep bends on the long sides with a gradient of up to 69% proved to be particularly difficult.
The construction company Gerd Müller GmbH, which was commissioned with the construction project, made several attempts in advance to concreting conventionally as close as possible to these steep bends and also to placing the concrete using a hand-guided wet spraying machine. Finally, together with August Reiners Bauunternehmung GmbH, further tests were carried out with the Putzmeister SPM 500 concrete spraying system used in tunnel construction.
The use of the SPM 500 and improvements to the shotcrete mix, as well as the further development of a conventional screed by construction company Gerd Müller GmbH, made it possible to concrete the steep areas in such a way that the surface provided a good substrate for the final surface protection system.
